RMK FALL 2013 COSMETICS PART 2 ♥ DEBUT SHOW STYLED BY MASAYO KISHI

I am super thrilled to share this second part of the RMK cosmetic launch for Fall 2013 with you. If you haven't seen part one, then click here because it's a review of some of the new items that will be available this August! And they are gorgeous. Well, like I also mentioned in part one, this collection had a big launch event in Japan to celebrate the new look and vibe of the brand and for this season's collection...also previously mentioned, there is a new creative director...Kaori...who wanted the Fall makeup look to reflect the story of a New York girl who is waiting for her boyfriend in Central Park in the Autumn months. If you are not from New York or have never been there during the fall, it's one of the best times in the city. The temperature is perfect and the leaves are all turning colors. The sun isn't always so bright and you get to wear your warmer (non-summer) clothes. It's a lovely lovely gorgeous time in the city. Kaori lives in New York. And it makes sense that she wanted to ask Masayo Kishi (one of our regular Nancy Girl featured ladies and regular contributor) to style the launch/debut show for the brand/collection. And it looks like it was gorgeous! You might see similar looks in the upcoming campaign...the campaign was shot by Greg Kadel, BTW, which is a great fit.

But it's Masayo's styling at the show that I am in love with. She was nice enough to take some shots of the show to share with us. If you haven't seen her work before, you can view some other things she has done here. She's one of my top 3 stylists ever. :)

♥ MAKEUP MONDAY ♥ RMK FALL 2013 PREVIEW AND BONUS PART 1 ♥

YEA! Happy Monday, all! I am super excited to do this two-part post because it's on some really fun products and a gorgeously styled show to celebrate the new collection...from Japanese cosmetic brand RMK and darling stylist and Nancy Girl regular contributor, Masayo Kishi!

You are going to love love these products, this collection and Masayo's new work!

Recently Masayo was in Japan and was the stylist for the RMK show (which included a lot of lovely girls and their makeup from the new Fall collection) where she styled the girls for this new collection. She sent me some of the products which aren't even out yet. I thought for this post, I would show you the product first and then tomorrow, I will show you the images from the actual show in Japan with the gorgeous looks that Masayo created. That way you'll see the whole picture.

The deal is that RMK is sort of relaunching the brand. For the past 15 years, legendary makeup artist Rumiko has overseen the brand as the creative director. But now there's a new creative director, KAORI and so the brand is going to be "new new new". :)  Kaori lives in New York, and I guess the idea behind this new collection is influenced by a New York girl. (There is much more with this that I will share in tomorrow's blog post because it really explains who this new RMK girl is and what Masayo did to bring this look to life).

I have to say, I have never used anything by RMK...but now it's definitely one of my most favorite cosmetic lines EVER. The packaging, the colors and the way they look on your face is amazing. I can testify to that. These products will not be available until Fall...so keep your eye out and go sign up to the RMK site so you know when they'll be out...you will LOVE them. I promise. I know the launch date for Japan is August 18, 2013. I am not sure what the US launch date is...but it won't be long after, I assume.

Masayo so generously sent me an eyeshadow, a blush and two nail polishes (one that I've been addicted to and is my current ultimate favorite polish right now!). She also included a really cool little double-sided brush that goes with the eye product.

I love the packaging so much. The only thing is that the gorgeous silver packaging dings really easily. It's still gorgeous and chic, though.

How amazing and gorgeous, right? Look at this little eye shadow brush. you slide it from side to side. One side is for cream and one side is for powder! It's very sturdy and well made and the bristles are really high quality.

The first product is the INGENIOUS CREAM AND POWDER EYES in the color #02 Brown Beige x Brown Copper Gold Bronze...THIS IS JUST AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS! The base is a perfect peachy beige shade, looks perfect on the eyelids. I love it. And the gold brown color is really rich looking. It's very sparkly, in a good way, and looks very expensive but not overstated on the eyes. The base is on the top...you unscrew the lid and there it is. The powder is underneath...you swivel the top (base part) to the side to reveal. Gorgeous packaging, colors and quality.

Next item I received is a blush called the SHEER CHEEKS POWDER in the color #07 Natural Rose. OMG. This is the most perfect strawberry shade. It has a sheen to it. I dunno how to explain it. It's not overwhelming. It's just perfect. Even on my olive skin, this color looks amazing. I place it kind of high on the cheekbone and only on the outer of my cheeks. The brush is also amazing. Even though it's a small brush, the quality of the bristles is soft and expensive. It's not one of those brushes you would never use. I love it. It's softer than a lot of my nice brushes and it applies the blush perfectly. This is also one of my new all-time favorite products. I think this color especially would look good on everyone. You can wear it lightly or build it up if need be. There is no smell. And...it looks perfect with the shadow on your eyes. Very balanced. I also love love the packaging.

I also received to nail polishes....NAIL COLOR EX in the colors P-34 Deep Purple and EX-07 Purple Gray. I haven't used the Deep Purple color yet, but I have Purple Gray on right now. OMG (again)....this is the most amazing shade. It looks like a muddy gray purple brown with little lovely teeeeeeny sparkles in it. It looks expensive like Chanel limited shades do. Like something Lisa Eldridge would wear. The polish does chip kind of easily which I dislike, but no matter. I am still hooked on it. My current favorite. I've been wearing it for a week and I will repurchase if it runs out! See some shots of my nails below...in sunlight, it looks much more purple. But I'm def not a purple nail polish person. Even so, this works for me because it is sophisticated and rich looking or more witchy looking. It doesn't look like a cheap purple polish color is what I'm trying to say.

purple gray on left and deep purple on the right

Not amazing shots, but you can kind of tell what it looks like on my nails...

purple gray...natural light without flash

purple gray...with flash

I hope you're as excited to read this as I was to post it! You can also see some of the other colors and products from this collection here (the lipsticks look amazing!)...Just wait until tomorrow's PART TWO post with the fashion show shots that happened for the debut of this collection featuring girls styled by Masayo Kishi! You will die...they look amazing. And I'll share the story behind the collection more in that post, too. See you tomorrow! (Thanks again, Masayo!) xx

GIVE-AWAY CONTEST! ♥ LOW ON HIGH "ICE CREAM SEX" ALBUM GIVE-AWAY!

Hi, babes...this is the first of some give-aways that we'll be doing on Nancy Girl from now on. To celebrate the release of Low On High's new record "ICE CREAM SEX", Amy Davis (band member and regular feature/contributor to Nancy Girl...along with Jon Moritsugu...her man, band member, iconic film maker) has generously offered to give 7 records away to Nancy Girl readers! You can listen to the record on the right (see the player in the sidebar)>>>>you will especially love Emo Boy! It's the first track. I promise you will be hooked from that very first song.

So...what do you have to do and what are the rules? For this contest, you need to be in the United States. (We'll have other things available for international readers soon!) Second, you need to answer a question (created by Amy Davis, of course)...here is the question:

How EMo is TOO EMo???

Now, to answer either leave a comment below this post OR email feelingnancy at gmail. We'll leave this up for a bit (until we decide to close it) and then we'll announce the winners on Nancy Girl (and prob on Low On High's sites, too).

LOW ON HIGH: JON MORITSUGU AND AMY DAVIS (love them!)

To read more about Low On High, see this earlier post on them...

Remember...we have seven CD's....The video for Emo Boy will be released soon, too! :)

♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ DRESS TO KILL EDITORIAL (TOTALLY HITCHCOCK) ♥

I had intended on posting another something today, but I think I'll leave that for tomorrow now....because I just saw this editorial and I love it so much that I had to get it up and share it with you. I know the writer says it's very desperate housewife or something, but I think it's actually very Hitchcock...or Valley of the Dolls (which I love, too). I love the styling...esp the hair and makeup...sup-erb! I love when they mix it up and don't always try to make the girls have perfect long hair. This looks like something that Cody Young could have done, too, but the model here () does a good job, too. If you want to see more shots from the shoot, click here. See you tomorrow! ♥ PETRA KOZINA SHOWS US HOW TO DO MAKEUP FOR SKYPE VIDEO ♥

YEA! Petja (or Petra) Kozina is an amazing beauty guru and real makeup artist on YouTube that I always write about on here. She's a friend at this point. And, if you read the recent blog post about how to look good when you're doing a Skype video chat, then you'll have seen my request to her and another guru (I think she's also going to do one) to please create a video on how to look pretty/cute when you're going to use a webcam either with a potential love interest or for a job interview, etc. AND Petra already posted her video and it's amazing!!! See her video below and subscribe if you haven't yet to her channel! You can see the original post here...it explains the story as to why I am sort of freaking out (much less freaked out now, though :). It also explains how to work the lighting and the camera angle, et al. Petra shows us how to use makeup for the camera and even explains my request to her. I just love this lady. She is awesome and the makeup is always beautiful! (THANKS, PETRA!!!XX) ♥

♥♥ I HEART MATERIAL GIRL MAGAZINE SUMMER 2013 EDITORIAL ♥♥

Oh how do I love thee, Material Girl magazine! I just noticed there's a new issue out...issue 22 Summer 2013...I cannot wait to get it. I wish I had every issue and I shall buy every issue that I do not own as soon as I move, whenever that is!

But here it is. I'll get the details later. I honestly thought I had already done today's post, but then realized that I hadn't. So many cool things to post up soon...we have a record give-away coming up (listen to it on the sidebar! Especially "Emo Boy"! It rules!)...and I got another box today from a friend in New York with some amazing cosmetics from RMK and even Shu Uemura! I have stories for both brands on here coming up shortly and they're not just makeup reviews! They are pretty exclusive yummy bits that you'll love to see/read! But the makeup...let me tell you...I have one of the RMK nail polishes on right now and OMG I AM IN LOVE!!! (Thanks, Masayo!) I won't tell you anymore. You'll have to wait until the posts go up. The one about Shu Uemura is amazing, too!

Okay...hope you enjoy this editorial as much as I do! I wish these magazines were out when I was 17! :) And PS...the post tomorrow might be later in the day...maybe not. But in case you don't see it straight away, it's because I had to take care of some things, I have a meeting (wish me more luck, please) and I'm returning a Clé de Peau serum I bought because IT DOES NOTHING. I'll exchange it for some other things. More on that later...

look at this cover!

MAKEUP MONDAY ♥ CHANEL LES BEIGES SPECIAL PREVIEW SAMPLE MINI!

YEA!!! So sometime last week I found a very interesting little box in the mail addressed to NANCY GIRL...from CHANEL! I used to get all kinds of samples from Chanel when I was an editor for Oyster magazine. But I haven't gotten anything from them in years. I was excited to see what it was.

i love seeing this little box from Chanel addressed to Nancy Girl!

I was super excited to find out it was cosmetics! And a special preview! Woohoo! Nancy Girl, girl...you have arrived!

Upon opening up the little bits, I see it's part of the new LES BEIGES (lay-bashe) compact collections, which I have heard about from YouTubers overseas. But I didn't really understand what it was about until I noticed that image of Gisele all bronzed up and glowing...

there's the tiny sample in the bottom of the box

And I was even more excited to see the sample is actually a tiny miniature compact, a replica of the big ones...HELLLLOOOOO, CHANEL...(that's a quote from PARTY GIRL with Parker Posey)....!!!

how cute is this? it's tiny. a little bigger than a quarter. like a large coin...love it! will love it forever!

Upon opening up the compact, I notice the color is a bit...dark...for me. So, I'm confused. Is this an overall powder? Or a bronzer? Or is this just too dark for me? I don't know. But it's still nice looking and feels good and silky.

No. 40. maybe too dark for me...hmmmm.

Here's the back for you in case you need to see it. Though, it's hard to get the camera to focus on text that small!

Here's the deal...I think this broke me out. I've stopped using it to see if the break outs subside because I only broke out where I used this. Other than that (and if you don't have a reaction to it), it's a gorgeous bronzy color and looks amazing on the skin. I mean, I LOVED how it looked. I don't know if this would ever replace my Chanel cream bronzer (Soleil de Tan de Chanel or something), but I do love it. I just think it's breaking me out. The color of the powder looks pretty nice as a bronzer, but I would never use this all over my face. It also has a great texture. Lovely texture. So give it a try if you think you dare. If you don't have any reaction, I am sure you will love it. Too bad not everyone gets these lovely little samples. I hope Chanel sends me more!  And PS...this product just launched in the US or launches in August. But if you're overseas, you prob already know about this. If you've used this, please leave a comment and let us know how you liked it. xx

♥ HOW TO LOOK GOOD ON WEBCAM WITH A "SPECIAL POTENTIAL" ♥

OK...here's the double feature...truth be told, I've been sort of or not sort of...I've been corresponding via email and Skype phone with a boy I think I like who lives in a different time zone. Now, I have to be honest and say I never do webcam anything. Only with my brother and some old friends and even that is rare. I hate the whole being conscious of what you're doing, thinking, moving, etc. thing. And...I don't like how I look in a webcam at all. It doesn't look like me in fact. I feel I look like an old scary lady. :D But...of course the next step for us is to start video Skyping and now I am looking up tips for this...and I'm excited about it because I AM NOT ALONE! Thank goodness it's a known fact that it's not the most flattering of anything to webcam. There are tips (just like any camera tip, too) for doing this. I found this very helpful video above, but I also plan on asking one of my favorite or two of my favorite beauty gurus on YouTube to do a webcam video with makeup, too....(HI< Petra and Rachel if you're reading this!). I consider them friends. Cute girl friends I can go to and say, "Hey...I like this dude and now we're gonna video chat and I wanna look as pretty as you guys do!!! Help me!"

But I thought I'd share this video in case you're also going to do a Skype interview or you, too, have a special potential (that's a great way to say it...a special potential) that you want to look hot for. Or, cute.

more soon. xx

UPDATE!!! PETRA KOZINA DID THE VIDEO ON HOW TO DO YOUR MAKEUP FOR WEBCAM DATE OR INTERVIEW!!! AND IT'S AWESOME! SEE IT HERE

UPDATE!!! RACHEL ANISE AKA THE BEAUTY PROFESSOR ALSO DID A VIDEO ABOUT THIS AND IT IS ALSO AWESOME!!! SEE IT HERE

THANKS TO RACHEL AND PETRA FOR ANSWERING MY REQUESTS!!! xxx

SUNDAY MATINEE ♥ WHEN METAL RULED/THE SUNSET STRIP STORY

I didn't know what I was going to post today. If I find something else that I also want to post, I'll put that up today, too. This is a good thing to watch if you have no idea what the Heavy Metal scene was like in the late 1980's and early 1990's. The thing I reallllly dislike about it is this VH1 (is there still a VH1?)-slash-MTV style of documentary. I hate the editing and the cheesiness that goes along with it. But, there are some good parts/interviews and footage. They do say a lot of the same things I mentioned in my BBC Radio interview. And if you want to read more about it, the ebooks are coming out soon for my novel...it's already available in the IBookstore, if you use an IPad or whatever.

More soon. Hope you're having an awesome Sunday! \m/

♥ SATURDAY SHOPPING ♥ DELFINA DELETTREZ SURREAL HAIR CLIPS ♥

I just love everything Delfina Delettrez does. She reminds me of a Peggy Guggenheim a little, with the art/fashion mix. It all seems so 1920's Surrealistic. And I love that. Dover Street Market just sent out an email announcing their new things and these new clips were on the menu...they're quite expensive for hair clips...but they're more like a little piece of art. PLUS, who else is going to be wearing these if you get them? I think these are the types of things that make EXCELLENT Christmas gifts...even to yourself. Add them to the list. :) Even if they're like £85! (A set. And I think they're all silver and enamel...which is nice and won't look cheap.) Available here.

♥ VALENTINO SUBZERO CAPSULE WINTER 2013 COLLECTION ♥

I had to do a post on this amazing capsule collection Valentino is doing this winter...it's called SUBZERO and everything about it is inspired by very cold winters. It's a genius idea to me...it has bits and pieces that are most definitely from the house, but there's a very casual raw darker side to it, a very street side to it. It's a genius way of making it very street without saying Valentino is street. (It's a much better way of doing it than say Hedi did with YSL or, ahem, "SL".) I would kill for pretty much everything in this collection because everyone knows how much I love the black simple silhouettes, especially during a cold city winter. See more of it here.
